- France's health minister, Olivier Véran, has said that thousands of healthcare workers have been suspended for not getting a required COVID-19 vaccine
- French health authorities had set a Sept. 1 deadline for all healthcare workers to get at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and provide a negative COVID-19 test report as a prequisite for working
- The order also required all healthcare workers to have received the full vaccine doses by October 16
- The order was met with mass resignations by healthcare workers and protests opposing the new "health pass" system, which people say violates people's rights to choose to be inoculated
- Véran noted that the suspended healthcare workers included mainly temporary staff and a few nurses
