Moderna Vaccine More Effective Than Pfizer, J&J - CDC

  • Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine is more effective than Pfizer's or Johnson & Johnson's in preventing hospitalization, especially four months after vaccination, the CDC said Friday
  • The study analyzed data from about 3,700 people at 21 hospitals in 18 states over five months, with findings suggesting that the Moderna vaccine remained more effective than the others over time
  • The study found an overall effectiveness of 93% for the Moderna vaccine at preventing COVID-19 hospitalization among American adults; an 88% effectiveness for Pfizer, and; 77% for J&J vaccine
  • The study noted further that the Moderna vaccine remained 92% effective after 120 days, but the efficacy of the Pfizer vaccine declined to 77%
  • These findings come just as the FDA advisory panel voted against administering booster shots of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine for Americans aged 16 and over
