Aileen R. Killen, RN, PhD, CPPS

Aileen is Global Head of Risk Consulting | Healthcare in the Client Risk Solutions division at American International Group (AIG). In her role, Aileen leads a team of professional consultants to assess healthcare organizations and work with those organizations to improve their performance in the area of patient safety. These organizations include: hospitals, long term care facilities, and a variety of other clients of AIG.

Prior to joining AIG in 2014, Aileen held progressive staff, educational and administrative positions in perioperative nursing at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) Hospital for Special Surgery, Mount Sinai Medical Center and New York University Medical Center, all in New York City as well as at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire. In 2007, she became the first Director of Patient Safety Programs at MSK where she was responsible for developing systems and programs to prevent harm to patients.

Aileen holds Masters degrees in Nursing and in Management/Health Policy, as well as a PhD in Nursing. She was a Patient Safety Leadership Fellow in 2002-2003 focusing on the design and construction of operating rooms for patient and staff safety. Aileen is a nationally recognized speaker and author on a variety of topics including patient safety, ethics and perioperative management.
