U.S. to Ease Travel Restrictions for E.U, UK Travelers

  • The U.S will ease travel restrictions for travelers from the UK and EU but will require proof of vaccinations from them, the White House said Monday
  • Jeff Zients, who is leading the country's COVID-19 response efforts for the White House, said noncitizens visiting the United States will have to show proof of vaccination and a negative COVID-19 test taken within three days of departure
  • Officials say the changes will take effect in early November, in time for the surge in demand for air travel during the holidays
  • The U.S. is also tightening rules for unvaccinated United States citizens returning to the country. According to the new rules, they will need to test one day before departure and upon returning
  • U.S. airlines have cheered the decision to reopen travel, saying it will open up their carriers to customers who have been restricted from flying since the pandemic began
