In brief

What is the GHA Certified Longevity Physician™?

The GHA Certified Longevity Physician™ is an online educational certification in longevity medicine for licensed physicians, issued by Global Healthcare Accreditation, an independent healthcare accreditation body. Physicians complete the 29-module core and 15 physician modules on clinical decision-making, prescribing and medical leadership, about 26 hours in total, and pass two online examinations. It is not a medical specialty board certification.
Why this credential exists

Patients and partners need to know which physicians are trained.

"Longevity doctor" is not a protected title. Anyone can use it. Patients, employers, insurers and hospital partners have no simple way to tell a physician trained in longevity medicine from a practice that has only changed its marketing.

In a longevity program, the physician is the clinical lead. The physician takes clinical responsibility for the patient, designs the care plan, decides what to prescribe, coordinates specialist referrals, and recognizes when something falls outside longevity medicine and needs conventional care.

The GHA Certified Longevity Physician™ trains and recognizes that role, under the name of an independent accreditation body that already sets standards for longevity medicine organizations.
Eligibility

Who can earn the GHA Certified Longevity Physician™?

Licensed physicians only.
  • An MD or DO, or an international equivalent such as an MBBS or MBChB.
  • A current, unrestricted license to practice medicine. GHA verifies the license before the credential is issued.
  • Completion of the Certified Longevity Practitioner™ core. Physicians can enroll in both as one program.

Clear terms

What this certification is, and what it is not.

Clinicians, patients and employers should know exactly what this credential means. These terms apply to every holder.

It is an educational certification.

Holders have completed a defined curriculum in longevity medicine and passed the examinations set by Global Healthcare Accreditation.

It is not a license.

It does not grant a license to practice, prescribing authority, or any clinical privilege. Every holder works within their own license and the law where they practice.

It is not a medical specialty board certification.

It is not issued by, or affiliated with, any medical specialty board, and it does not replace board certification or hospital credentialing.

It does not expand scope of practice.

A nurse, coordinator or allied professional who holds the credential has the same scope of practice as before. The credential adds knowledge, not authority.

It does not endorse treatments.

Certification does not mean any test, therapy, supplement or product is proven to work. The training teaches clinicians how to judge evidence and explain its limits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible?

Physicians with an MD or DO, or an international equivalent such as an MBBS or MBChB, who hold a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine.

Do I have to complete the Certified Longevity Practitioner™ core first?

Yes. The GHA Certified Longevity Physician™ program includes the full 29-module core of the Certified Longevity Practitioner™ program, followed by 15 physician modules. Physicians can enroll in both as one program and earn both credentials along the way.

Can nurse practitioners or physician assistants earn the physician credential?

No. The GHA Certified Longevity Physician™ is open to licensed physicians only. Nurse practitioners and physician assistants earn the Certified Longevity Practitioner™.

Is this a board certification?

No. The Certified Longevity Practitioner™ and the GHA Certified Longevity Physician™ are educational certifications issued by Global Healthcare Accreditation. They are not medical specialty board certifications, and they are not affiliated with any specialty board.

Does this give me authority to prescribe anything new?

No. Prescribing authority comes only from your medical license and the law where you practice. The physician modules teach how to make and document prescribing decisions in longevity medicine, including where the evidence is limited.

How long does it take?

About 26 hours in total: about 17 hours for the core and about 9 hours for the physician modules. Most physicians complete it over several weeks alongside clinical work.

How is the examination run?

Physicians take the core examination and a separate physician examination online. Both use multiple-choice and case-based questions, both require a passing score, and both can be retaken if needed.

How do I become a longevity doctor?

There is no licensed medical specialty called longevity medicine. Physicians practice it under their existing medical license and specialty. An educational certification such as the GHA Certified Longevity Physician™ shows that a physician has completed a defined curriculum and passed an examination. It does not replace board certification.

Is continuing medical education credit offered?

Continuing medical education credit is not offered at launch. GHA will announce any change on this page.

Is the course online?

Yes. It is fully online and self-paced, in video modules of about 35 minutes that you can watch on a computer, tablet or phone. There are no live sessions to attend and no travel. At three modules a week, the 29-module core takes about 10 weeks.

Does certification mean GHA endorses the treatments I offer?

No. GHA does not certify that any test, therapy, supplement or product works. The training teaches clinicians how to classify evidence as established, emerging or experimental, and how to explain those limits honestly to patients.Yes. How does this relate to GHA Longevity Medicine Accreditation™?

They are separate. GHA Longevity Medicine Accreditation™ evaluates an organization. These certifications recognize individual clinicians. A clinic does not need to be accredited for its staff to enroll, and certifying staff does not accredit a clinic or affect an accreditation decision. Many organizations will choose both.

Does the credential expire?

The credential is renewed every two years by completing continuing education in longevity medicine set by GHA. Renewal keeps holders current as the evidence changes.
