August 23, 2025

New program equips nurses to lead safe, trusted, and patient-centered medical travel—benefiting providers, payers, and patients world wide

Palm Beach Gardens, FL — August 23, 2025
— Global Healthcare Accreditation (GHA) today announced the launch of the Advanced Certified Medical Travel Professional – Nursing (CMTP-RN) program, officially approved by ANA Massachusetts for CNE credits, meeting criteria set by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC COA).

Designed for nurses supporting international and traveling patients, CMTP-RN is an eleven-module course taught by nurse practitioners with deep expertise in clinical operations and medical travel. Delivered onsite or live-virtual, the program equips participants to strengthen safety, quality, coordination, and outcomes across the full care continuum, while also developing a deeper understanding of the business of medical travel.

The Role of Nurses in Medical Travel

Nurses are the frontline guardians of patient safety and trust in medical travel. Their constant presence across the journey—before, during, and after treatment—ensures quality care, fosters engagement and cultural understanding, and protects hospital reputation. By bridging clinical teams with administrative processes, they create seamless, reliable experiences that drive patient satisfaction and referrals. Hospitals that invest in advanced medical travel training for their nurses are likely to see greater efficiency, stronger international patient loyalty, and measurable program growth.

“Nurses are at the heart of a successful medical travel program. They serve as the constant touchpoint for international patients—ensuring safety, confidence, and continuity of care,” said Renée-Marie Stephano, J.D., CEO of GHA. “Through the Advanced CMTP–RN, hospitals can elevate patient outcomes while strengthening the success of their global programs.”

What CMTP-RN Delivers

The program goes beyond traditional training by combining clinical excellence with business insight. Nurses gain expertise in risk management, infection control, care coordination, and cultural competence, while also learning how their role impacts patient acquisition, brand reputation, and hospital growth. By uniting strategy, operations, finance, and marketing with clinical practice, CMTP-RN positions nurses as both caregivers and strategic partners.

Key learning outcomes include the ability to:

  • Analyze     globalization’s impact on health risks.
  • Define     the scope and responsibilities of nurses in medical travel.
  • Identify     and mitigate patient safety risks across the medical travel continuum.
  • Enhance     patient experience through cultural competence and communication.
  • Apply     business strategies in operations, finance, marketing, and patient     acquisition.

For stakeholders, the benefits of the Advanced CMTP-RN are clear: nurses earn CE-accredited expertise, hospitals reduce risk and strengthen global reputation, and patients enjoy safer, more empathetic journeys.
